Week 13

Submission Week: aka. no sleep

I continued with the task I was given which was to animate the Rope way, using any method I wanted. (3Ds Max, using soft selection) Due to the lack of time, this method was very repetitive and at times very mindless & irritating.

My goals were to for submission

  • Animate models for a moving ropeway in the middle of the structure, (I chose to cover the distance between towers 14-17)
  • Export Animation
  • Position them in the right place
There were many, many, many, many, many issues with almost everything I did as well as everything any one of my team members tried to accomplished. Pushing us a step back (more like 1000 steps back) every single time.

Common issues that occured were:
  • many failed exports due to clashing verticies (can be fixed, but again irritating)
  • once applying "TCB" to an animation it would completely screw up the timing and movement of the animation. (Basically start again or time frame/autokey every.. single.. frame)
  • cga. file would not export <<
  • if the cga. file did export it would not play in crysis (try again, until it works)
  • if the cga. file did export the scale would be dramatically larger than anticipated (Tough luck, must re-model, or attempt to re-scale it in crysis -> not a fun process)
  • if the cga. file did export the parts and components to the model would not be in the right positions (within the uneditable model) (Re-model or Re-animate)
I tried very hard not to swear during this part of the blog post. ^^
